ICE Partners with Florida Law Enforcement to Arrest Man for Sex Crimes

A Florida man, Frank Miles, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison last week for attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and possession of child pornography. Miles’ sentence comes after a successful investigation by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the ICE news release, Miles transported at least 69 videos depicting the sexual abuse of children less than 12 years old. After being arrested by state law enforcement for possession of child pornography, Miles continued to solicit children for sex on online dating sites while posing as a 17-year-old high school student.

Miles made arrangements to meet with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl but was in fact an uncover law enforcement agent who arrested Miles. Upon arrest, a search of Miles’ phone found additional inappropriate sexual activity with minors.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey stated, “This case is another example of our successful partnership with HSI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office taking a very dangerous sexual predator out of the community and putting him behind bars, where he can never harm a child again.”

The investigation which led to Miles’ arrest was conducted under HSI’s Operation Predator, an international initiative to combat child sex abuse. Since the programs began in 2003, HSI has arrested more than 16,000 individuals for crimes against children. In fiscal year 2017, more than 900 victims of sex abuse were also identified and rescued.
