Making It Safer for Those Who Serve

The National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum’s Destination Zero Officer Safety and Wellness Conference will take place on Tuesday, November 10, beginning at 11 am Eastern time. This free, virtual conference is open to all branches of law enforcement.

The conference will feature speakers and virtual workshops on officer safety and wellness, as well as a live panel discussion on the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on law enforcement. It will also spotlight award-winning programs implemented by law enforcement departments from across the country and maintained in the Destination Zero Officer Safety and Wellness Resource Center. These programs are designed to help law enforcement departments implement or enhance individual department initiatives to help keep officers physically, mentally and emotionally safe and resilient.

As the leading authority on law enforcement line-of-duty deaths, the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum is dedicated to making it safer for those who serve. The names of 22,217 officers who died in the line of duty are currently engraved on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, a number the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum wished was much lower.

“We know that even one officer death is one too many,” says National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund CEO Marcia Ferranto. “But we also know that isn’t realistic. Our Destination Zero Officer Safety and Wellness Program is committed to bringing top-notch programs to the law enforcement community that help keep officers safe on the job. We know that officers who are in better physical and mental health lead to safer communities.”

The Destination Zero Officer Safety and Wellness program is a joint partnership between the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum and the Bureau of Justice Assistance VALOR Initiative. The program and conference are also made possible through the generous support of Verizon.  To register for the conference, visit the Destination Zero website at https://destinationzero.org
