Museum Grand Opening Saturday October 13

There’ll be plenty to do all day, inside of the Museum and out. The festivities get started at 9 am with our annual Run for the Badge. This 5K walk or race takes place in front of the Museum. While fundraising isn’t required to participate, every dollar raised supports the important mission of the Museum to help tell the story of American law enforcement. In-person participants also receive a voucher for one future Museum admission, good through November 16, 2018. Visit Run for the Badge for details or to register.

After the race, stay for our Grand Opening Community Day celebration which takes place along the 400 block of E Street in front of the Museum. This free event features fun for the whole family with live entertainment, finger printing, forensics demonstrations, caricature artists, face painting and more.

You’ll need a timed-entry admission ticket* to enter the Museum. Once inside, you’ll experience the history of American law enforcement like never before. The Museum’s “walk in the shoes” experience lets you see what being an officer is really like. Hear first-hand stories of life on the job, try your hand as an operator/dispatcher in our 911 Emergency Ops exhibit, collect evidence and see if you can solve a crime in Take the Case, test your decision-making skills in our Training Simulator and so much more!

*Please note that demand for admission tickets on Grand Opening Day is expected to be very high; the Museum has limited visitor capacity. You must have a timed-entry admission ticket to enter the Museum. Please purchase tickets in advance of your visit on our website. Ticket availability during our Grand Opening weekend may not be available to all who wish to attend; we apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
