Protecting Federal Employees – How, When & Why We Need To

The most recent FEDtalk podcast episode explored the various reasons federal employee professional liability exposures have increased over the last few years.  Listen in as Tony Vergnetti, the Founder of FEDS Protection, and Brenda Wilson, the Vice President of Programs, explain how the performance of your duties and the integrity with which you perform those duties may not matter if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“Social media, news sensationalism, public perception of government, political and agency leader agendas…the change in how information is delivered and received is new for everybody…but for federal employees, these things are liability game changers now,” said Wilson.  Vergnetti stressed that “issues surrounding COVID and decisions made to address social and equality issues have you on edge.  He went on to say that [new administration] “policy shifts, changing priorities and dynamics cause anxiety over investigations and questions arising out of decisions you made surrounding these issues under the prior administration – and - with the benefit of 2020 hindsight.”

The podcast includes an overview of why federal employees have liability exposure, what those exposures are, which policy coverages are most likely to be invoked depending on what you do and which agency you work for, what is covered under a federal employee professional liability policy, and how it differs from professional liability insurance for private entity employees.

The episode also mentions the webinars, Will Feds Face a Coronavirus Commission? and Law Enforcement Liabilities, both available on the FEDS Protection website. You are also encouraged to reach out to the federal employee association that represents your interests to find out more about your exposures and why FEDS Protection is recommended over other carriers.
