Ethical Uses of AI with the Federal Government
Using predictions and recommendations, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) has the power to elevate the citizen experience while reducing a major burden on governments. Once implementing AI ML is underway, how does an agency ensure ethical standards? How can we confirm that the safety and rights of the public are not being hindered while utilizing advanced artificial intelligence?
On Thursday, August 4 from 1:00 - 2:30 PM EDT, the Advanced Technology Academic Research Center (ATARC) hosts a panel of experts as they discuss how they have implemented AI as well as the ensuing ethical dilemmas. Topics include the citizen experience, bias removal, and who "owns" AI in a department.
Panelists include Dr. Nelson Colรณn, Digital Service Expert, Defense Digital Service, Office of the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer, U.S. Department of Defense; Tom Harrell, IT Specialist and Senior IT Policy Analyst, Information Technology Resources Branch, National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences; Chakib Chraibi, Chief Data Scientist, Office of the Chief Information Officer, National Technical Information Service, U.S. Department of Commerce; Col.
