FLEOA Announces Results of National Election, Including New National President

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) announced the results of its national board elections this week. Among the newly elected officers is the new FLEOA National President, Mathew Silverman. Silverman previously served as National Vice President and is currently employed by the U.S. Marshals Service.

“I am truly honored by the confidence the FLEOA Board of Directors, Agency Presidents, and Chapter Presidents have placed in me to lead the organization. FLEOA has played an important part in my career development. On the most challenging days, I have never had to ‘Go It Alone.’ As president, I will make sure every FLEOA member continues to feel the support and community that comes with our membership,” FLEOA President Silverman said. “Immediate Past-President Larry Cosme and our other past presidents paved the way for our success by exhibiting tremendous passion and dedication to FLEOA’s mission. I was honored to serve as Larry’s vice president and hope to continue his legacy of promoting excellence. I will be a true champion for our cause.”

“As president, I intend to help achieve equity across the law enforcement community. In fact, our leadership team has identified this as a top priority. Whether it is obtaining proper law enforcement status for all those who risk their lives in federal public safety missions or ensuring equitable pay systems across law enforcement components, the promotion of fairness and equity is a mission I think we can all get behind and support,” Silverman continued.

“As I have been promoted to positions with higher levels of responsibility within the federal government, I have seen firsthand how equity in pay correlates with improved recruitment and retention. In turn, this correlates directly with officer safety and wellbeing. Training is expensive. In order to be fiscally responsible and promote efficiency of service, we need to ensure public safety professionals are incentivized to enter and stay in their federal positions. In doing so, we will be better prepared to protect the homeland and ensure the American people are served by the best federal law enforcement professionals our county has to offer,” Silverman said.

“While FLEOA’s leadership is changing, our mission remains the same: we are the advocate for federal law enforcement before the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. We are your voice and your support system. It is an honor and a privilege to carry the torch forward as FLEOA’s new president,” Silverman concluded.
