According to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release dated July 27, 2021, Luz Irene Fajardo Campos, aka βLa Comadre,β βLa Madrina,β and βLa DoΓ±a,β 57, of Culiacan, Mexico, was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison following a 2019 trial for her role in in an international drug trafficking conspiracy that included Mexico, Colombia, Honduras, and the United States.
Owner of Sport Supplement Company Sentenced for Unlawful Distribution of Steroid-Like Drugs
According to a Department of Justice press release from February 16, 2021, a North Carolina sport supplement company owner, Brian Michael Parks, pleaded guilty to one count of distributing unapproved new drugs with the intent to mislead and defraud the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and consumers. He was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison.
Indian Cancer Drug Manufacturer to Plead Guilty to Concealing Records from FDA
According to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release, Indian drug manufacturer Fresenius Kabi Oncology Limited (FKOL) has agreed to plead guilty to concealing and destroying records prior to a 2013 U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspection. FKOL has agreed to pay $50 million in fines and forfeiture.
CBP Seizes Drugs in Second Largest Border Bust
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced their second largest methamphetamine bust along the southern border in a press release on October 11, 2020. With help from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), CBP officers seized over 3,100 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl powder, fentanyl pills and heroin at the Otay Mesa commercial facility.

The Red Ribbon Campaign, the U.S.βs oldest and largest drug prevention program, is holding its annual Red Ribbon Week beginning October 23. Red ribbon has been a symbol for drug prevention since the death of DEA Special Agent Enrique βKikiβ Camarena during a drug operation in Mexico in 1985.
